THE alsico futures project

innovating workwear
for tomorrow

We don’t just make garments, we rethink what workwear can be for the future world. With nearly a century of expertise in protective clothing and uniforms, our ambition isn’t just to respond to today’s needs but to anticipate tomorrow’s challenges with creativity, care and action.

the alsico futures project

The alsico Futures Project is our commitment to pushing boundaries in innovation, sustainability and garment performance. It brings together advanced technology, responsible practices and a visionary design mindset to shape the workwear of tomorrow, protective clothing that protects people, respects the planet and sets new benchmarks in the industry.

innovation at the core

In every workshop and design studio, alsico’s academy team are focused on solutions that go beyond the status quo. From cutting-edge fabric technologies to advanced digital design tools, we’re reimagining how garments are created and how they perform in real working environments.

a prototype protective suit for Createc and Boston Dynamics

Exploring partnerships with companies that need forward-thinking garment concepts for unique environments, we are working together with Createc to expand what protection can mean in robotics, using Boston Dynamics' spot robot.

Together, we have developed a prototype protective suit for Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot, engineered to operate in heavy dust, contaminated processing environments, cleanrooms, wet weather and washdown areas. Designed to protect sensitive robotic systems in hazardous industrial settings, the suit supports reliable deployment where environmental conditions would otherwise limit performance.

By combining expertise in protective garment engineering with advanced robotics applications, this collaboration helps accelerate industrial automation and enables safer, more resilient robotic operations in demanding environments.

next-generation workwear design with 3D & AI technology

A great example is our move to 3D and AI-powered design, which is transforming the way workwear is developed. With tools like Style 3D, alsico designers can build and test garments digitally, assessing fit, movement and performance with precision long before a single stitch is sewn. This approach reduces waste, accelerates development and delivers better-fitting, longer-lasting clothing for the people who rely on it every day.

for the change makers, the disruptors, the pioneers and the visionaries...

responsible innovation in workwear manufacturing

Innovation isn’t just about new ideas, it’s about responsible progress. Alsico’s innovation approach is woven tightly with our sustainability goals, guided by a roadmap that balances people, planet and operations. We’re committed to reducing our environmental footprint, improving social impact across the supply chain, and creating lasting value without compromising quality or performance.

The Futures Project includes our pioneering work in circularity, where worn garments are collected and transformed back into new high-quality textiles. In partnership with specialist innovators, alsico has developed some of the industry’s first closed-loop workwear pieces, demonstrating that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand in real, scalable systems.

technology that works harder and smarter

Whether it’s stretch technologies like ALSIFLEX®, advanced contamination-control fabrics, or next-generation protective layers, alsico continues to push performance forward without sacrificing comfort or sustainability. Our fabrics are engineered to enhance movement, deliver lasting comfort and maintain their protective qualities even in the toughest conditions, giving workers the freedom to perform at their best.

At the same time, digital tools are enabling stronger collaboration with customers, offering realistic previews, interactive design options and tailored solutions that reflect real needs on the ground.

managing heat stress in protective workwear

Heat stress is a growing occupational health risk in high temperature and physically demanding environments, often placing greater strain on workers than ambient heat alone. When protective clothing limits airflow and traps moisture, core body temperature can rise quickly, increasing fatigue, reducing concentration and elevating safety risks.

Effective heat stress management in protective workwear focuses on breathable fabric technology, moisture control, thermal regulation and garment construction that supports airflow without compromising certified protection. As climate conditions shift and industrial demands intensify, reducing heat stress is becoming a critical factor in workwear design, safety compliance and long-term workforce wellbeing.

shaping an industry, not just a product

The alsico Futures Project is more than a development programme, it’s a statement of purpose. It’s about leading by example, engaging with partners across the textile and workwear ecosystem, and contributing to discussions that shape the future of clothing, sustainability and workplace performance. From sharing insights at industry events to pioneering new standards and partnerships, we’re committed to elevating what’s possible for workwear everywhere.

We believe the future of workwear should be safer, smarter and kinder to the world we live in. The Futures Project is how we get there, not by standing still, but by innovating every step of the way.

how we are disrupting the world of workwear

cyclop®

an award-winning innovation
for cleanroom environments

In cleanrooms around the world, people work on innovations that improve our lives. However since Annex 1 requires that facial skin should be covered at all times, the working circumstances inside those cleanrooms have become even more challenging.

Don’t you agree these people deserve an innovation that improves their working lives?

our journey to closed loop

Alsico is driven to find solutions that not only protect the workers of the world, but also the planet we live on. As a global brand, we are acutely aware of our responsibilities and work tirelessly to solve the most challenging sustainability demands. Our goal is to achieve 90% recycled fibres by 2040, and our first major step has recently been realised, launching our innovative circular garment made from 65% recycled polyester, made from our own end-of-life garments.

if we want to change the world, we must act

Change does not come from intention alone. It comes from movement,
from bold choices, from doing what has not yet been done.

Alsico has been working tirelessly to develop a framework that enables operations
of our scale to do everything we can to reduce our impact on the world around us.
